I Am 02:39
I am diamond. You are the clenched fist at the end of a trembling wrist. I am lighting. You are the church steeple that’s been blown to bits. I am nothing. You are the whole of the world and the things that are contained within it.

Cowards 02:50
If I came a running and I slipped on a pebble and the water all around me made to carry me home. And reaching in the dark I found the hand of the devil, saw there’s nothing that I could do that could be undone. Will I feel the sting of the switch or paddle? No. Leave me alone. If I came a roaming like a rogue in a fable and the kindness of a stranger is what held me up. Set off with a horse and set a fire in the stable, turn my back upon the flame and let me shadow lead on. Will I never sit more with my tea at the table? No. I won’t go.

The old man’s hands, I study them, and I wonder what they’ve seen. Skin and bone and ring of gold that tendered countless deeds. I don’t mean the mean things, no. But there are things we cannot show. Have you ever seen your mother’s face in the face of other men? Matchings batched through history, a coupling come again. And they come in dozens voices peeling, standing tall to say ‘Come behold the miracles we deal in.’ I turn my face away. A medicine before the end to mollify my brethren. Or better yet, the antonym. We cannot stop if we do not begin. My own man’s hands I understand. I know what they must take. Scars and lines that fall each night from each day’s new mistakes. And they come the countless curses bleeding, falling from my face. Though I bow my head so they can’t see me, I know not what to pray. I don’t mean the mean things, no. But there are things we cannot show.

I Saw Heaven 02:55
I saw heaven yesterday. Men were watching from the gates. I said ‘so long,’ they said ‘stay.’ I saw heaven yesterday. I heard laughter from within. Nothing I could say to them. I kept walking, let them win. I heard laughter from within. Gloom ahead and glow behind. Ain’t no use to wonder why. I’m an arrow let me fly. Gloom ahead and glow behind. Let me plant just where I land. That’s where I’ll begin again. Life has slipped right through my hands. Let me plant just where I land. Seek that which you cannot reach. Find it when you’re on your feet. Never shall be what it seems. Seek that which you cannot reach. I left heaven yesterday. Things will never be the same. I said what I came to say. I left heaven yesterday.

The Dark 03:28
I roll up my sleeves like a politician. Then I go to work to pay for my internet. When I am through and feeling complicated I crawl into bed and then do it all over again. I got my friends but I don’t often see them. Seeing takes time and the time is so precious to give. So I sit alone in my unlit apartment. Watch pictures of them that they’re spreading all over the web. It ain’t me that you see. I am above, I am beyond this. Don’t believe all I scream. It’s just my attempt to connect in a better way. I hold up my hands like a full surrender. But I am just reaching, reaching for a higher shelf. The metaphor spirals itself out as intended. Still I can’t wait until I am finally checked out. It ain’t me that you see. I am above, I am beyond this. Don’t believe all I scream. It’s just my attempt to connect in a better way. All the terrorists and the governments and the others of which we’re a part. We’re all holding hands, we’re all best of friends, we ‘re all waiting for you in the dark. All the pederasts and the merchant class and their audience who watch from afar. They don’t understand, they can’t comprehend why nobody cares to hear their retorts. Every single voice, every touted choice, may we all rejoice when silenced at once. So that all that remains is the great nothing that so violently erupted as us.

Kids 04:07
Memory will always win set beside how it was lived. We were only lonely kids dreaming of the days ahead. Hear the ghosts reclaim the streets, see the town we used to see. Some of us will go succeed, some of us will never leave. Kids are walking around the same fucked up town. Teenage heroes of heroine, new old emergency. I guess that here could be anywhere. Here’s where I wanted to be. Things didn’t go quite the way I planned. C’est la American Dream. So I’ll lay down my weary head and get some American Sleep. Kids are walking around the same fucked up town. I dreamt an oasis, a verdant childhood dream. But when I came back the other night, they’d torn down all the trees. And they paved over my lowly life with suburban streets. Now I never play the numbers right. When I wake I scream. Kids are walking around the same fucked up town.
